SSC CGL 2025 Exam Rescheduled to September; 55,000 Candidates to Reappear

SSC CGL 2025: As per the new update released by SSC (Staff Selection Commission), the re-exam will now be conducted in the first week of September. Those who are going to reappear must check a revised schedule of their exam by visiting the web portal of the commission.

It all happened on August 8 when the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) notified a reschedule of SSC CGL 2025 exam that was earlier scheduled to commence on August 13, 2025.

Now, as per the new update in this regard, the exam will now be conducted in the first week of September. Once everything gets finalized, SSC will share the entire schedule of CGL and other tests on SSC’s official portal.

According to the SSC, the rescheduling is basically linked to the rollout of a new Computer Based Examination (CBE) model, introduced as per directions of Supreme Court in the Writ Petition (Civil) 234 of 2018.

This model mandates Aadhaar-based verification for candidates and staff. It will be a process trialled during the Selection Post Phase 13 exam held from July 24 to August 1 across 194 centres. Over 5.5 lakh of the 11.5 lakh registered candidates took the test.

SSC officials further admitted that some technical glitches and operational hurdles disrupted the exams for some candidates. Many of them were even shifted to alternate sessions up to August 1. As many as three special shifts on August 2, 2025, enabled about 8,000 more affected candidates to complete their respective tests.

SSC CGL 2025 Exam Rescheduled

According to the SSC, an in-depth analysis of all examination logs through August 2 identified. The report stated that approximately 55,000 candidates with missing or incomplete data. “These candidates will be accorded the benefit of the doubt,” the official notice said.

The identified candidates will have the opportunity to take their test again on August 29, 2025, the SSC confirmed.

The Commission will release admit cards for the re-test on August 26, 2025 and notify all candidates through their registered mobile numbers and email IDs. Their previous attempts will not be counted, it added.

As part of its preparations, SSC has initiated an in-depth review of the exam infrastructure and readiness, prompting the deferment of the CGLE 2025.

The Commission has now reopened the One Time Registration (OTR) edit portal from August 14 to August 31, 2025. It will therefore offer candidates a final opportunity to update their details before exam applications begin in September.
