PMMSY Scheme: On Thursday, (September 10, 2020), Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch another government scheme in Animal Husbandry and Fishery sector. The name of the scheme is Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY).
Apart from this, PM Modi will also launch e-Gopala App that will help a great deal in several ways. Using this app, farmers can enhance breed production marketplace.
The app can also be used to gain all the latest information and techniques so as to ensure an improved productivity and quality of fish production.
The total cost to incur in PMMSY scheme will be around Rs 20, 050 crore and aims to enhancing an overall fish production up to an additional 70 lakh tonne by the end of the year 2024.
It will not only be able to enhance the fish export earnings up to an additional Rs 1 lakh crore by 2024-25 but will also boost the overall earnings of the farmers as well.
For example, the implementation of PMMSY will strategically reduce huge losses due to post harvesting up to 25%. This will further be able to generate an additional 55 lakh employment (directly or indirectly) in fishery sector and allied departments.
This is what a senior fisheries ministry official has to say about the new government scheme (to be launched digitally by PM Modi), “In Bihar itself, the scheme envisages an investment of Rs 1,390 crore with central share of Rs 535 crore and the additional fish production target pegged at 3 lakh tonnes. During the current financial year, the center has sanctioned a project costing Rs 107 crore,” he said.
PMMSY Scheme Will Comprise Several Advancements in the Fishery Sector
There are several other projects to be launched by the PM through PMMSY scheme. For example, he will digitally launch the establishment of brood and fish bank at Sitamarhi.
Later in the project, he also plans to establish an Aquatic Disease Referral Laboratory (ADRL) at Kishanganj, Bihar. As per the sources, the PM will also inaugurate the Comprehensive Fish Production Technology Centre at Pusa, New Delhi.
This is going to be a new evolution in the fish production market in India as the facilities discussed above will surely help in enhancing the quality and quantity of fish by ensuring the fish seed for farmers who are engaged into the fish production.
At the same time, it will also enhance the fish quality and affordability of fish seed at cheaper rates along with the emphasis to control and diagnose fish diseases. It will also help in soil and water testing faculties as well.
PM to Inaugurate E-Gopala App & An IVF Center in Patna Under the PMMSY Scheme
Soon after launching the PMMSY scheme, PM will also inaugurate an e-Gopala App. It’s being launched to as an information portal and breed improvement marketplace that will eventually help farmers in great ways.
This is what an official has to say about this, “At present no digital platform is available in the country for farmers managing livestock including buying and selling of disease free germplasm in all form. The App will provide information about various government schemes and campaigns in the area,” he said.
Under the PMMSY scheme, the PM will also inaugurate state of the art semen station in Purnea district in Bihar. He will also launch an IVF lab that has been established lately at the Animal Sciences University, Patna.
